PCmover and the tale of the Ghost(copy)writer

When my boss suggested I try the Ghostwriter OpenAI ChatGPT add-in for Microsoft Word, I was deeply skeptical.

You want me to use AI to write copy?

I’ve seen those terrible bot posts. They’re a mess — often hilarious, yes — but a total mess. As a creative marketing professional with a decade of copywriting experience under my belt, there was no way I could expect any text worth its salt from an AI platform. And if by some stroke of luck it managed to compile some that was halfway decent, wouldn’t using it be cutting corners, or fly dangerously close to the definition of the p-word-that-shall-not-be-named among reputable writers?

Worse still was the fear that if AI could manage to write its way out of a paper bag on a topic, that by using the results, I would be actively participating in the demise of my own career. Either way, it could only be bad news for me.

Or so I thought.

Boy, oh boy, have I had to eat my words.

When Laplink announced its partnership with Patrick Husting and the intention to bundle PCmover with Ghostwriter, a blog post seemed the ideal way to share the news — and blog posts are my bread and butter.

I hemmed and hawed, wondering where to begin. After all, Ghostwriter and PCmover are entirely different products. They don’t compete. They don’t integrate with each other. So, what’s the common ground?

I had to do some research. I smirked inwardly. Research … a prime opportunity for a seasoned writer to put the all-hallowed AI through its paces.

I loaded up the Ghostwriter add-in for Word.

Write a paragraph about the benefits of Ghostwriter ChatGPT for individuals and small business.

…as a tech reviewer.

…in an analytical style.

…in an informal tone.

I sent the request, and 30 seconds later, it popped a smug little paragraph into the document.

As I read it, the inward smirk turned into a frown of concentration.

Ghostwriter ChatGPT offers numerous benefits for individuals and small businesses alike. Firstly, it provides a convenient and efficient way to generate high-quality content. Whether you need help with writing blog posts, social media captions, or even drafting emails, Ghostwriter ChatGPT can assist you in producing engaging and well-written content in a matter of minutes. This saves valuable time and allows you to focus on other aspects of your personal or business endeavors. Additionally, Ghostwriter ChatGPT offers a wide range of writing styles and tones, ensuring that the generated content aligns with your unique brand voice and messaging. This flexibility is particularly beneficial for small businesses looking to establish a consistent and professional online presence.

Ok, it's not perfect, but it’s a start.

Flexibility is an abstract concept here. Hm. I was curious if the AI could dive into that further. What else might it consider to be a benefit to small businesses?

Explain in detail the following text. I pasted the relevant sentences into the window and clicked send once again. Ten seconds later, it responded — this time, at length.

Sure thing! Let's break down the text you provided in an analytical writing style.

The text highlights the feature of Ghostwriter ChatGPT that offers a wide range of writing styles and tones. This feature ensures that the content generated by the AI aligns with the brand voice and messaging of businesses. This flexibility is particularly advantageous for small businesses aiming to establish a consistent and professional online presence

I paused. It claims to be able to establish continuity of tone for small businesses? Prove it! Let’s see you rewrite the first paragraph…

I sucked the tip of my tongue as if it were the proverbial pencil eraser.

…as a tech reviewer

…in an analytical style

…but change the tone to …funny.

I giggled. This was bound to be an unmitigated disaster.

The response popped into the document.

Ghostwriter ChatGPT is like having a magical writing unicorn at your fingertips, granting all your content creation wishes!

I chortled. Magical writing unicorn! Ha! (Lifegoals, anyone?)

It's the ultimate time-saver for individuals and small businesses who need top-notch content without the hassle. With just a few clicks, you can generate blog posts, social media captions, and even emails that are engaging and well-written.

But hold your horses, there's more!

There were more giggles and mastication of my own words as I read on.

…In conclusion, Ghostwriter ChatGPT is a game-changer for individuals and small businesses. It saves you time, offers a variety of writing styles and tones, and keeps getting better as you use it. So why waste precious hours struggling with content creation when you can have a writing unicorn do it for you? Get Ghostwriter ChatGPT and say goodbye to writer's block and hello to high-quality content! Trust me, your inner Shakespeare will thank you.

Forget thanking me, my inner Shakespeare was poking his fingers in the air, doing some kind of happy dance alongside the magical writing unicorn.

Again, it wasn’t perfect, but it was such an entertaining start to the process, I fully admit I was inspired to dive in and uplevel it, combine it with more of my own thoughts, which were now churning freely, polish them up, and get a blog post out the door — all for the low, low price of about an hour and a half of my time? Most writers would quadruple that estimate for a first draft of a 1500-word blog post. And they’d be back to the drawing board for any significant change in tone. Ghostwriter AI had just made my copywriting life significantly, radically, and undeniably …easier.

My inner Shakespeare stopped dancing, his eyes widening under the lightbulb now hovering over his head. It switched on, filling my head with the bright light of a new idea.

That’s it! Therein lies the way PCmover and Ghostwriter rub along together.

Indeed, I explained to myself as inspiration crowded into my fingertips and tapped its way onto the page, PCmover and Ghostwriter AI are the ideal partner offerings, not because they tackle the same problems, but because they tackle two entirely separate, yet extremely time-consuming aspects of our lives — aspects some of us may even dread.

I mean, who hasn’t suffered from writer’s block when faced with the blank page and put off composing a speech, a screenplay, a letter to grandma? If the queries above proved anything, it was that Ghostwriter AI might not get the job completed, but it sure gets it started. Not only is that a huge time-saver, but it’s also a weight off one’s shoulders. It’s writers’ peace of mind. And we all have to write something in our lifetimes.

PCmover provides the same relief. What PC user among us hasn’t procrastinated purchasing a new computer or dreaded setting it up because we know it’s going to take hours of time to hunt down serial numbers, reinstall applications, redo settings, and transfer gigabytes of files? Those of us who have dealt with this nightmare even once are well acquainted with the fear of losing our data and the need for a couple of painkiller-laced cocktails to soothe the headache after narrowly escaping a white-knuckled brush with disaster. (Because, really, if the worst happened, who would we call?)

PCmover is the only software that moves all files, settings, data, and applications — even your desktop background — from one PC to another without losing data. Everything you select is moved to the new PC, so it looks and feels just like the old one. Nothing is lost or deleted. And much like an Instant Pot, users simply choose the type of transfer they want to perform, click “start transfer,” and go do something else while the transfer finishes up. If it doesn’t go as planned for some reason, there is even an undo feature for that extra peace of mind. And if you really get stuck, Laplink’s customer service is second-to-none, with bona fide PC set-up pros (seriously, they’ve seen it all) manning chat and phone lines 24/7.

Whew.

I sighed, looking up at what I had just written. At not long last, there was the blog post. I had found common ground.

Looking back on the process, would I call myself a cynic-turned-convert? Perhaps not. I don’t think either Ghostwriter or PCmover are set to replace human aptitudes anytime soon. But what assistance they provide in their respective quadrants, they execute beautifully. Ghostwriter OpenAI ChatGPT add-in for Microsoft Word is a tool perfectly poised, not to complete all writing tasks, but to break down barriers for those who would otherwise avoid writing at all costs, while also dolling out a serious boost in productivity to those of us who tackle it daily. Likewise, PCmover offers the same opportunity to individuals moving to a new PC once in a blue moon, as it does to IT pros and enterprise IT departments who regularly refresh PCs. Neither product replaces the human at the wheel, but it sure adds some serious horsepower to our drive.

So, take my words for it. Save some time, gain some peace of mind. Go get the bundle.
