A Laplink Reseller Interview

Rob’s company joined the Laplink Partner Program in spring 2014, coinciding with Microsoft’s end-of-support for Windows XP. Wanting to capitalize on the opportunity, Rob’s company bought 200 licenses of PCmover Professional to bundle with their anti-virus software in an offer to clients.

Offering both PC migration services, as well as sales of software programs, Rob’s company also resold other Laplink programs like DiskImage and SafeErase to clients.

But PCmover Professional was the most valuable program.

When asked his main reason for offering PCmover to his clients, Rob said of the company’s steady sales: “Technicians know the value of time, and the value of a product that saves them time.”

For Rob’s clients, instead of working on a migration for over a 4-hour period, the entire transfer was done in 45 minutes on average.

“Usually when Microsoft is ‘forcing’ an OS upgrade, we find the greatest success,” said Rob of the business opportunity and financial gains his company experienced with reselling Laplink software programs as part of a service.

Rob’s forecast of the future in the Laplink Partner Program: “With Windows 10 coming out, and with the reviews it’s receiving, I can see a lot of people migrating.”

He additionally foresees that as soon as Windows 7 goes “end of sale” and Windows 10 truly “fills that gap”—Rob can see another big revenue opportunity for reselling PCmover.
